THIS LEAGUE IS ON WEDNESDAYS AND DRAFT FORMAT.

NEW THIS SEASON: Waterfall Draft Opt-out (A & B Divisions)

You must opt-out of the waterfall draft process in your registration in order to be eligible for a refund after draft night (see below for waterfall draft details).

Opting-in is recommended. Opting-in will guaranteed you a spot in the league, and you will be expected to play regardless of which division you are placed in. Once draft night has begun, you will not be eligible for a refund.

Opting-out will forfeit your spot in the league if you are not drafted in the division you register for. Players who forfeit their spot will be issued a refund, only if they have opted-out in their registration prior to draft night.

All players who register for the C division are considered "opt-in" and are guaranteed a spot in the league.

If you would like to change your decision after registration, please update your registration at cgva.leagueapps.com/dashboard or email matt@cgva.org prior to draft night.

Draft Night:

Draft Night on July 2nd at 6:00PM is mandatory for players. Attendance is essential for the draft process, and players who do not attend are likely to be moved to a lower division per the waterfall draft format. Your attendance is important so captains can see all players and draft their teams fairly. 

Please email Co-League Director Matt Roby at matt@cgva.org if you cannot attend, so we can organize draft night effectively.

Draft Divisions and the Waterfall Draft Format:

CGVA draft leagues are divided into 3 divisions: A, B, & C. Skill levels for each division will vary some each season based on registrations. See our PYOT division descriptions: typically A has players who have played in Red/Orange, B has players who've played in Orange/Yellow, and C has players who've played in Yellow/Green.

CGVA runs a waterfall draft as of Fall 2024, which means it is more important than ever to attend draft night. Waterfall draft means you are not guaranteed a spot in the division you register for. During draft night, captains in each division will select players until their teams are full, after which any undrafted players will be moved to a lower division. All players who are not drafted in the A or B divisions are guaranteed a spot in the C division.

Players are welcome to try out for a division higher than they would normally play, keeping in mind that you may not be selected. You should not register for a higher division if you cannot attend draft night. Players who try out for a higher division are not eligible to be captains.

Up to 8 weeks - June 13th - June 25th (weather dependent) 

1 week of Draft Night

7 weeks of Pool play

1 week of Tournament Play.
 
Cost:

$60 per person

Roster Format:

4x4 any gender combo.

Dates:

Regular Season: Wednesdays, July 9th - August 26th

Single Elimination End of Season Tournament: August 26th

Match Times:

Set up: 5:30pm (early session teams put up nets.)

Session 1: 6-7pm

Session 2*: 7-8pm

Tear Down: 8pm (late session teams take down nets.)

Forfeits are 15 minutes after start time.

*Session 2 will only be used if needed based on the number of teams

Play Format:

1 Match, 3 games played to 21, win by 2, up to 23 points.

*If we need to cancel 2 or more weeks due to weather or other reasons, we will cancel the tournament and continue more Pool play games to the end of the season.
